Today marks the 25th anniversary of the Port Arthu

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the Port Arthur massacre. I was pic editing that day and sent two photographers to Tassie then spent the next couple of weeks doing doorknocks and covering funerals. I met John and Gaye Fidler a couple of years ago. They survived. Such a lovely couple who still manage to find joy in life. Also very hospitable- I enjoyed a bit of cheese and glass of wine with them!

Aung San Suu Kyi visited Australia in 2013. I was curious to see her so took the trek out to a basketball stadium in the south eastern suburbs where there was a community rally. She was greeted like a rock star and mobbed on the way out.
